Halloween is always a very exciting time of year, a time to dress up as the things that scare us the most and overcome our fears with lots of cheap sweets and pumpkins converted into punch bowls.
This year I went as the scariest thing I could possibly imagine; I was very surprised when no one could guess I had come to the party as a server black out, something that has figuratively and in some case literally kept me awake at night.
As a software developer and someone who strives to keep customers' systems up and running through thick and thin a server outage proves a very scary idea indeed. It's something I have no control over but that means my customers are not getting the service they want and need.
So as I sat there dressed in my cardboard server rack eating my seventh tiny gift bag sized mars bar I felt very thankful I was part of a company that made the decision to host entirely in Azure, a decision that means we benefit from constant automatic backups, server roll backs and fail-safe rollovers. Allowing us to guarantee a much higher system up time than if we were to self-host or host through a smaller hosting company.
So this Halloween, if server down time is keeping you up at night maybe it's time you had your existing system hosting moved to an affordable, scalable and most importantly reliable hosting environment.
At Exem we have migrated a number of systems over to Azure and would be more than happy to speak to you about moving your system, sadly our expertise don't extend into the super natural!
