The team at Exem are great guys to work with and flexible when working to the super tight deadlines we often experience in the events industry; especially coming out of the pandemic. They worked closely with us from across the world and managed to seamlessly pull off the launch of a multitude of changes to our existing system, making it completely contactless and safe for attending fans.”
With the largest racing event in the world opening its doors once again to spectators, pressure was understandably high to ensure that the trackside entertainment remained a highly engaging, and above all, safe environment despite heavy Covid measures. This inevitably meant that the current registration procedure needed adapting to the “new normal” before the green light was lit in Bahrain.
Everchanging guidance meant that we were tasked with providing a safe low-contact alternative to the current registration procedure that otherwise would involve face-to-face interactions with thousands of attendees. Therefore, timescales were undeniably tight, and requirements were changing constantly during the development process to keep up with adapting logistical and legislative considerations.
Our solution to the newly obsolescent registration process was the introduction of per-user QR codes. This enabled the attendees to perform the whole registration process using only their phone and check in to various track side activities through their mobile devices. In doing this, we also found that staff had far more time to be monitoring the events that were taking place, providing an overall better experience for attendees.
Once development had finished and testing had begun, it was hugely important that we were only a phone call away to resolve any technical issues that arose during the process. We ran through testing having rectified the small changes that were needed and went live at the beginning of the event. With no major issues arising during the race and any smaller issues being easily corrected due to rapid, managed deployments, the event went as smoothly as we could have hoped and when the chequered flag was waved the whole event had been a resounding success.
Our post-event debrief with the client was very positive and we were able to highlight a handful of further considerations and improvements that are to be detailed and developed in time for the next event. We’ll see you all in the UK!
